Varun Saranga was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. He became interested in acting during high school through filmmaking, directing and starring in various student films. After attending an open call at 18 and landing his first major role playing the geeky but lovable AJ Mehta on the hit YTV show How to Be Indie, he was inspired to pursue an acting career professionally. Many roles followed, such as Schitt’s Creek, Workin’ Moms, Nurses, Endlings and regular roles on Burden of Truth, Carter, Roku’s The Holiday Shift and most notably, the People’s Choice Award-winning Wynonna Earp.Varun also recently appeared in Daniel’s Gotta Die directed by Jeremy LaLonde and starring the late Bob Saget, The Bakerstarring Ron Perlman, and in season 3 of the critically acclaimed CBC/HBOMax series Sort Of starring Bilal Baig.He completed the CBC Actors Conservatory program at the prestigious Canadian Film Centre in Toronto.
